Best Time to Visit Bardolino & Lake Garda

Late spring through early fall is ideal for visiting Bardolino and Lake Garda. The weather is perfect for wine tastings, vineyard walks, and lakeside adventures. Harvest season in September adds an extra touch of magic, with bustling wineries and grape-filled landscapes.

Where to Stay in Bardolino & Lake Garda

For a relaxing escape into the heart of wine country, Bardolino and Lake Garda have accommodations to suit every taste. Our top pick was Villa Quaranta, and we absolutely loved it. Nestled among vineyards, it felt like a private retreat with serene surroundings, gorgeous rooms, and a spa that was perfect for unwinding after a day of wine tasting and lakeside adventures.

For those seeking a wellness-focused getaway, Hotel Caesius Thermae & Spa Resort is a fantastic choice. Just a short walk from Bardolino, it offers multiple pools, saunas, and thermal baths, all surrounded by manicured gardens. It’s ideal for travelers who want to relax, recharge, and enjoy the beauty of Lake Garda without venturing far.

If modern luxury and eco-conscious design are more your style, Aqualux Hotel Spa & Suite is a standout. Located just minutes from Bardolino’s center, it offers sleek rooms, several indoor and outdoor pools, a full spa, and dining with a view. The combination of comfort and wellness facilities makes it perfect for a stylish and relaxing stay.

No matter which option you choose, each of these hotels offers easy access to vineyards, the lake, and the charming small-town vibe that makes this region so special.

Top Restaurants in Bardolino

Dining in Bardolino is all about fresh flavors, local wines, and relaxing lakeside vibes. One of our absolute favorite spots was Munus, a modern yet cozy restaurant that completely wowed us. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere felt intimate and inviting, with a perfect balance of contemporary design and rustic charm. The menu highlights local and seasonal ingredients in each dish, all bursting with flavor. It’s the kind of place where every bite and every sip reminds you why Italian cuisine is so special, and we can’t recommend it enough for anyone visiting Bardolino.

We also really enjoyed Villa Quaranta’s in-house dining, this was so convenient and delicious. They offer a full breakfast buffet for guests with fresh baked pastries, made to order coffees, and off course your typical breakfast dishes like eggs and house made sausage. You can do a wine tasting right at the hotel, or you can do a sit down dinner with a pre fixed meal and pairings. On one of our relaxing days by the pool, we ordered from their more casual lunch concept and it was absolutely delicious and perfect for savory bites next to the pool.

Wine Tasting in Bardolino & Things To Do

This part of the trip was all about slowing down, savoring the scenery, and enjoying the local wines. Start by wandering the charming town of Bardolino, with its cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and lakeside promenade. It’s perfect for a leisurely morning stroll, coffee at a local café, or shopping for artisanal goods.

Visiting Tenuta Santa Maria Di Gaetano Bertani was one of the many highlights on our trip. We did their Tradition tour, and it honestly felt like stepping back in time—walking through this beautiful old villa, seeing the drying lofts, and hearing all these stories about the family and their winemaking history. It didn’t feel stuffy at all, more like being shown around by someone who really loves what they do.

The best part, of course, was the tasting, four wines that each had their own unique flavors. The Ripasso was one of our favorites and definitely stole the show. It was the kind of afternoon that makes you want to linger a little longer, glass in hand, soaking it all in.

Another favorite was Cantina F.lli Zeni, known for their bold Bardolino reds. This was a free museum, which we loved learning about the history of the area and how wine making has evolved. Their wines were also very affordable which makes it easy to bring a few home with you!

I also highly suggest renting a small boat for the day to explore hidden coves and scenic corners of the lake, giving you the full perspective of the rolling vineyards from the water.
