An Easy Guide on How to Stay Fit while Traveling – Top 7 Travel Wellness Tips
Vacation; an adventure that frees your soul, fancies your taste buds and creates lasting memories. There is nothing better than feeling confident and looking amazing while on vacation. Vacation is all about balance and having a great time. I am a big foodie that loves to indulge, try new foods, and have dessert. I also like to stay fit and healthy while traveling so I have made my list of my top 7 tips for a look good, feel good vacay!
How to Stay Fit while Traveling Tip 1 – Pack Right
A fun and fit vacation starts with your suitcase. If you pack workout clothes your chances of working out are much higher. I pack my favorite workout clothes for vacations because it motivates me that much more. If I feel good and look good, I will work out! Pack your favorite workout clothes in a separate packing cube for easy access.
How to Stay Fit while Traveling Tip #2 – Walk
Skip the expensive taxi or car rental and walk to your destination. In airports, instead of taking a moving escalator, walk or take the stairs. Whether you are climbing to the top of a castle in Europe or arriving at your 4th-floor hotel room take the stairs! My favorite walking shoes are by New Balance, they are stylish and comfortable.
Most of the larger tourist cities have FREE walking tours. Take advantage of this great opportunity and get your steps in while learning about the city. Another plus to walking is you will get more familiar with the city. If you take a taxi or public transportation you may miss that small corner shop that you bought your favorite piece of jewelry from or that sweet lady you met and became travel friends with.
How to Stay Fit while Traveling Tip #3 – Plan a 30-Minute Morning Workout
A quick morning workout can jumpstart your day. Even a short 30-minute one will do the trick and make you feel refreshed and ready for the day. I love a good HIIT workout. Most of the time I will follow a workout from one of my favorite YouTubers or visit your hotel gym early in the morning and get a quick sweat in. Some resorts will have fitness classes included with your stay, always check the schedule and take advantage of a guided class.
How to Stay Fit while Traveling Tip #4 Drink Water
Water is a huge factor in staying fit and healthy during your travels. It gives you energy, quenches your thirst, and is very cost-efficient. If you are traveling in countries without clean drinking water, always plan your first purchase to be a large case of water to ensure you always have it on hand. Drink extra water in hot, humid, or high-altitude climates to mitigate the chances of getting dehydrated. My go-to water bottle is a Nalgene. I use mine every day whether I am traveling or not, and they come in all different sizes and colors. Get your Nalgene water bottle here!
How to Stay Fit while Traveling Tip #5 – Resistance Band Workouts
Travel light with a resistance band. A resistance band is my go-to piece of gym equipment because it can take a bodyweight workout to the next level. Resistance bands are lightweight and small, which can easily fit in your suitcase without tacking on those overweight luggage fees. I love my Recredo Resistance Bands. They come in three different sizes, do not slip, and are affordable.

How to Stay Fit while Traveling Tip #7 – Eat Healthy
Vacation is the time to indulge, try new foods, and have dessert. It is okay to treat yourself and have a sweet treat or that cheesy danish. I eat intuitively and find balance. Remember, cocktails and beers do have calories! I am a huge foodie and love to try new foods from all corners of the world, so eating well can be a bit difficult for me. I follow four simple tricks that keep me on track!
Start your day off right with a Nutrient-Dense Breakfast
Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day! Make sure your breakfast has a good amount of protein to keep you full and satisfied until lunch. Eating a well-balanced breakfast gets your day started on the right note and makes you feel good!

Plan Ahead
I am a huge fan of studying the menu before arriving at the restaurant. Know what you are going to order ahead of time. If you know you are going to indulge in filet mignon and wine at dinner maybe look for a lighter lunch or plan your day with more active adventures. The last thing you want to do is feel guilty for indulging in a delicious dinner you can only get in this one destination.
Sharing is Caring!
I love trying a little bit of everything when visiting a new area. Most of the time I share plates with the people I travel with. Instead of trying a few things in large quantities, I like to order small plates to try a little bit of everything. Sharing plates is a great fix for trying many things, while not spending a lot of money and wasting food.
Healthy Snacks
Always have a healthy snack with you, you never know when a craving will hit. I keep a few Think! High Protein Bars in my bag. Think! bars are high in protein at 20 grams per bar, only 1 gram of sugar, and no artificial sweeteners. Try Think! High Protein Bar Variety Pack, my favorite bars are the Lemon Delight, Cookies & Creme, and Creamy Peanut Butter. Comment below your favorite! I also like to travel with multi-vitamins to ensure I get my daily vitamins and keep me feeling energized.
