French Bistrot

Type of Restaurant

The true Parisian experience can be found at Bistrot Victoires with one of the best duck confit in Paris! First walking into this French bistro, you are greeted with intricate wood detail, lined mirrors, and waft of butter. The staff welcomes you with open arms… and a bottle of wine. My favorite thing about this restaurant are their unique plates, with a French menu written around the outside. I wanted to buy a whole set to take home but unfortunately that was not an option. Every nook and cranny in the bistro is filled with tables and chairs. To maneuver around you will have to suck in and give a good shuffle, especially after devouring their rich French cuisine.

Bistrot Victoires Menu

Bistrot Victoires’ food options are not limited, with an abundant amount of French dishes and drinks. With so many options, you may have a hard time choosing. If you are looking for the full French experience I would go for the Beef Tartar, Duck Confit, and Viande du Jour (meat of the day). The Duck Confit is a must order as is the best duck confit in Paris! English menus are available, making this a great spot for everyone to enjoy. All dishes range from 10 to 12.50 euros, a total steal for the authentic French preparation, restaurant location, and service.

What I Ordered

Mushrooms in Bordeaux

How can you go wrong with wine, butter and mushrooms? Mushrooms in Bordeaux is the perfect starter. It enlightens your pallet with acidic red wine then soothes it with the creamy and nutty butter. The Cremini mushrooms are perfectly al dente meaning “firm to the tooth” in the French language. Complimentary French baguette slices are in a basket at the table when you arrive. This is the perfect utensil to soak up the delicious liquid at the bottom of the mushroom bowl. * Check out Bistrot Victories’ Recipe on their website. This would be a great side dish for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

The Best Duck Confit in Paris

Once known as a preservation method for duck, confit means to cook the duck in its own fat. This method makes for mouth-watering, tender, juicy meat. This delicious bite of meat is served with haricots verts (green beans) and pommes de terre sarladaises (potatoes with garlic and parsley).

Île Flottante – Floating Island

The classic French dessert with baked meringue floating on a crème anglaise. Meringue is a simple recipe, consisting of whipped egg whites, sugar, and vanilla. Crème anglaise is a light coating that blankets the meringue perfectly. It is not overly sweet, with just three simple ingredients: eggs yolks, vanilla, hot cream.
