Top 10 Things to add to your Ubud Travel Guide
Ubud is one adventure filled town in the heart of Bali. If you are looking for more of an outdoorsy, authentic, and slower pace town then Ubud is your place. A lot of people ask, Is Ubud worth visiting? and I say most definitely, yes! I would not be writing an Ubud Travel Guide if it wasn’t. The amount of food, culture, and adventure makes this place one of my favorites!

1. Ubud Rice Terraces
You will spot many rice terrace fields throughout Ubud but the most notable and touristy is the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. This grand area is absolutely gorgeous with steep hillsides layered with pools of growing rice. You can book a guided tour or just take a self guided tour and wonder your own way. Do be careful as it is very easy to get lost! After exploring head to Tis Café for an amazing lunch with some of the best viewpoints in Ubud.
2. Mount Batur Volcano Sunrise Hike
One of the highlights of our entire Southeast Asia trip was hiking Mount Batur at sunrise in Ubud. You must book a guide, we booked ours online with one of the best Ubud tours – Bagus Bali Sunrise. We had an absolutely amazing experience with this company. This moderate hike is a bit steep and rocky at some points but definitely doable for most ages. The view at the top is priceless with the sun rising over the horizon, Danau Batur Lake reflecting the warm colors, steam escaping from Mount Batur volcano, and lush landscape surrounding.
If there is one thing on this Ubud Travel Guide that you must do it is this!
3. Hikes in Ubud – Campuhan Ridge Walk
If you are looking for a hike closer to Ubud then head to Campuhan Ridge Walk. This is right in town and completely free. I recommend visiting early in the morning to beat the heat. The views along this paver pathway are gorgeous with the dense Bali forest in its full glory.
4. Unique Things to do in Ubud – Ubud White Water Rafting
One of the not so common activities in Ubud is white water rafting. You can book your rafting trip at any of the booths in town or online. If you want more of an exciting and rougher water book your rafting trip during Bali’s rainy season (November – March). We booked ours right before and the water wasn’t very intense but still tons of fun.

One of the top free things to do in Ubud is visit the Ubud Palace. Bali practices the Hinduism religion. Take a step into their culture and explore the Ubud Palace. The Ubud Palace takes about 15 minutes to see and take photos. You will find many similar temples throughout your visit in the Bali.

7. Ubud Waterfalls
Whether you are an Instagramer or not, visiting the numerous waterfalls around Ubud is a great adventure. I prefer visiting some of the not so popular ones because there is less people and the more well known places you may have to wait in line to just enjoy the waterfall because the amount of people taking their photos. A few less popular but gorgeous waterfalls are Sumampan Waterfall, Manuaba Waterfall, and Taman Sari Waterfall & Natural pool.
8. Rent a Scooter and Explore Ubud
Scooters are by far the easiest way to get around the island. Taking a car can take double the time to get anywhere. Ubud offers a gorgeous landscape that is meant to be explored. Renting a scooter is very easy so grab your helmets and enjoy the lush green scenery!
9. Ubud Market
The Ubud Market is one of the top tourist attractions in the city. This large market offers everything from clothing, jewelry, décor, purses, and more. It is a great spot to buy some souvenirs to bring home for loved ones. Early in the morning each day it is fruit and vegetable market, so if you are looking for some local produce head to the market before 7:00AM.
10. Balinese Coffee Tasting
This can’t be an Ubud Travel Guide without tasting their famous coffee. If you drive out of the city you will start to notice coffee plantations and coffee tasting signs. You can get a great experience at any of them with a full tour and tasting. One of the more modern shops is Anomali located in Ubud, I highly suggest stopping here for a great array of cold brews.
