Davanza’s Pizza – A Top Spot for Lunch in Park City, Utah?

Davanza's Pizza

Davanza’s Pizza and More in Park City, Utah famous for their Philly Cheesesteak Subs

Location

Davanza’s Pizza and More is located on Park Avenue in downtown Park City. Just one block from Main Street and two blocks from Park City’s Town Ski Lift, Davanzo’s is in a prime location to enjoy some tasty lunch after a full day of skiing. They are open seven days a week, 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM.

Type of Restaurant

Davanza’s Pizza and More has been a favorite amongst locals since 1979. It is a fast-casual restaurant that is laid back and affordable. Davanza’s serves a variety of food and is famous for their gigantic subs. You will be seated at a table, but you order at the counter then your food is brought to you. It makes for a quick and efficient service for a small busy restaurant. Fountain drinks are self-served from a drink station.

Aesthetics

One of the best parts of Davanza’s is the décor. Inside you will find the walls lined with different cans of beer. The cans cover almost every square inch of the restaurant’s interior. Where there are not IPAs, lagers, and lites, there are small framed photos of past patrons. TVs are placed throughout the eatery, perfect for watching any prime-time sports. There is a charming outside bar-type seating desk outside, great for people watching. I would love to visit Park City during the summertime and eat outside on the porch.

Davanza’s Menu

Davanza’s has quite an array of menu options to choose from. Their title, Davanza’s Pizza & More is fitting because they do not just sell pizza. From pizza to tacos to signature subs this place has a little bit of everything. Whether you are craving Italian, American, or Mexican cuisine everyone will easily find something to enjoy. I find it a little strange they have tacos on their menu, but it must be a Park City tradition to have all types of cuisine on their menus.

A restaurant that has walls lined with beer cans has to serve beer. Davanza’s has a separate beer menu with a large amount of different lagers, IPDA’s, and lites. Most of them are local beers brewed in Utah.

Reservations

They do not take reservations, it is first come first serve only. We had to wait about 30 minutes until we got a table for four people. Being right next to downtown, the time went by fast while browsing the boutique shops Park City has to offer. The restaurant was busy but what can you expect on a weekend in March during après hour after spring skiing. By the time you find another restaurant, you could have a seat already, making it worth the wait. Plus, you know it is going to be delicious when there is a crowd waiting outside the door.

Liquor Laws in Utah

Utah’s liquor laws are quite a bit different than most states. A restaurant cannot sell any alcohol before 11:30 AM. Liquor stores are closed on Sundays. Utah does not allow any happy hours with drink specials. Buying beer at a grocery store will only have a maximum ABV of 5%. Want to enjoy a cocktail? Cocktails are limited to only a 1.5-ounce pour of the primary liquor and you cannot have two cocktails sitting in front of you at the same time.

What I Ordered

Davanza’s Philly Steak

I ordered the Davanza’s Philly Steak, with marinated beef, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and melty mozzarella cheese. The steak was a bit tough and I found the sandwich a little dry. I asked for a side of mayonnaise to add some moisture to the sandwich. The sautéed mushrooms, onions, and pepper were the best part of the Philly.

The cheese was ooey-gooey melty, talk about some serious cheese pulls! One thing I would change for this dish is the bread, I felt there was too much bread in comparison to the filling. Which is a bummer because it made the sandwich a bit dry. I would toast the bread a bit longer, to add texture. The sandwich was only $9.49, a great price for a filling lunch in downtown Park City. This sandwich was good but just a few things keeping it from being amazing!

Onion Rings

A side of onion rings was ordered for the whole table to munch on. Davanza’s onion rings are crispy, hot, and scrumptious! Like all of their portions, the side of onion rings is humongous, a great side to order for everyone to share. Try the onion rings dipped in Davanza’s homemade signature fry sauce for a mouth-watering bite!
