Location

Grappa is a hidden gem, located at the end of Main Street in Park City, Utah. Open every night starting at 5:00 PM for dinner. Reservations are required to dine at this popular upscale restaurant. Reservations can be made online or by calling Grappa directly, I highly suggest booking a few weeks in advance during peak season (winter/summer).

An Italian Restaurant in Park City

Grappa is a fine dining Italian restaurant nestled in a Park City historic home. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the delicious Italian food. Aesthetically, Grappa is elegant and authentic with terrazzo tiles, private dining spaces, and a gorgeous view of downtown Park City. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. This is a great restaurant for a romantic date or a special family gathering.

Grappa is named after the Northern Italian distilled spirit. The digestive brandy is made up of grape stems, seeds, and stalks that are leftover from the wine-making process, eliminating any waste. It is known to be a poor man’s drink and has a high alcohol percentage, 37.5 – 60 ABV. Many Italian’s reach for Grappa after dinner.

Grappa Italian Menu

Grappa Italian Restaurant in Park City has a notable dinner menu with variety and authenticity. A little disappointed that they presented their menu with a laminated QR Code. It is sad to see an upscale restaurant resort to the handsfree menu. We asked our waitress for paper menus and she was happy to provide them. Their menu is easy to read and filled with authentic Italian cuisine. Some of their classic and most loved dishes are the Osso Bucco, Calamari Fritti, and Grapes + Gorgonzola.

Grappa is family-friendly and offers a great kids menu that is more affordable. This is one of Park City’s upscale restaurants, you will pay a pretty penny to dine here. The price is definitely worth the culinary experience! The ingredients are locally sourced, portions are massive, and each dish is unique.

Drink Menu

Let’s not forgot about drinks! Grappa offers an award-winning wine list. The menu is filled with unique and uncommon Italian grape varietals as well as New and Old World wines. It is a great change from the usual Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Grappa also offers signature cocktails, I found their cocktails limiting and all on the sweeter side.

What I Ordered

Wine: Barbera d’ASTI – Vietti, Tre Vigne , Piemonte

After ordering the Ambrosia Dreams cocktail and sending it back because it was awfully sweet, our waitress was happy to bring me a glass of wine. I ordered the Barbera d’ASTI from Piemonte. I am familiar with this grape varietal because Barbera was one of our number one selling Italian red wines at the winery I worked at in Palisade, Colorado. It is soft and complex with red cherries and vanilla notes. I was very happy with my glass of Barbera and it paired well with my Grilled Lamb Chops.

Bread: Focaccia with Balsamic Dipping Sauce

A complimentary appetizer, the focaccia bread was buttery, fluffy, and delicious. I would prefer an herbed butter to spread on top rather than the balsamic dipping sauce. The sauce felt more like a dressing though it did add a nice tang to the rich bread. Focaccia bread is an Italian yeasted bread that is a great fit for this family-owned Italian restaurant. I loved the small bread plates, they added charm and made the dining experience unique and authentic.

Grappa

Appetizer: Grapes + Gorgonzola

The Grapes and Gorgonzola Salad is a fan favorite at Grappa and one of the best salads I have ever tasted! I first saw this salad featured in a Park City dining guide. Once I saw it, I knew I had to try it. The dish lived up to every expectation. We ordered it for an appetizer, our waitress brought it out on two plates and we each had our own salad, for the price of one. I was surprised and thought it was a mistake but we were only charged for one.

The grapes were crisp and bursted with freshness. The creamy, salty, and funky gorgonzola cheese added richness and density. Mixed into the grapes and gorgonzola were delicious hidden candied walnut nuggets. These were the best part of this dish, adding nuttiness, crunch, and sweetness. I could eat this salad for my entire meal with a juicy grilled chicken breast on the side.

Grappa

Grilled Lamb Chops

The grilled lamb chop entrée has a top-notch presentation and flavor. Three grass-fed lamb chops form a tipi and are grilled to medium-rare perfection. The lamb is locally sourced from Bill White Farms + Ranches, located in Park City. The lamb chops tower a pile of roasted spaghetti squash.

The spaghetti squash was my favorite element to this dish. There was a small side of haricots verts (green beans) with herbed chevre yogurt and pistachios. The small green been salad added a great change and freshness to this rich dish. Cascading over the entire dish is lamb au jus, raspberries, and wild mushrooms. This meal comprises of many different ingredients, but the lamb au jus ties everything together to make one cohesive dish.

Grappa’s Osso Bucco

One of the best dishes Grappa has to offer. The Osso Bucco is piled high with slow-braised veal, creamy polenta, and braised kale. You better wear your stretchy pants when ordering this Italian dish because it is A LOT of delicious food. The slow-braised veal is juicy, rich, falls off the bone, and melts in your mouth.

A side of creamy polenta transports me to my mom’s kitchen, with notes of cooked cornmeal and sweetness. The braised kale keeps the plate colorful and allows for a nice change in texture. A red wine tomato jus with bits of prosciutto adds acidity and saltiness cutting through the decadent polenta and braised veal. Like the traditional Italian Osso Bucco, a toasted pine nut gremolata tops it off.

The Perfect Bite: Juicy braised veal, swiped into a bed of creamy polenta, and dipped into a tomato and prosciutto au jus for a hint of acidity and saltiness.
