Aspen Sports Bistro

Aspen Sports Bistro in Aspen, Colorado Review

Location

Aspen Sports Bistro is located in the heart of downtown Aspen near the fountains on Hyman Street. The bistro is in a prime location with Hyman street being one of Aspen’s most trafficked walking paths. They have a great outdoor patio for exceptional summertime dining. The bistro is open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with the exception of Mondays being open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM for lunch.

Type of Restaurant

General Manager, Jason Bryson has been a food consultant for years and has traveled the US his entire life. He decided to settle down in Aspen and fulfill Aspen’s hole for a sports bistro. Aspen Sports Bistro is a casual and cozy restaurant serving bistro favorites. This laid-back restaurant adds a new category of dining to Aspen’s upscale restaurant scene. The bistro is a great place to grab a handheld favorite and a beer, after a long day on the mountain.

The bistro’s casual atmosphere is welcoming and fun. One of my favorite touches to the interior is the beer tap handles lining the ceiling. They add great charm and fun to the modern wood design. There is a large outdoor seating area in the middle of Aspen’s popular Hyman Street. This is a great place to have a delicious meal and enjoy Aspen’s gorgeous summertime weather.

“Aspen Sports Bistro is all about comfy casual and good eats.”

– GM, Jason Bryson

The Menu

Aspen Sports Bistro’s menu offers a great selection of simple and delicious bistro dishes. Jason Bryson is from Kansas City and adds his Kansas City BBQ flare to the menu. The menu is laid out in five sections with starters, salads, handhelds, fork & knife, and desserts. The starters have a great selection of sports bistro favorites like Wings, Tomato Basil Bisque, Calamari, and more. If you are looking for a lighter fare, the From the Garden section has customizable salads. Since this is a sports bistro we have to have some good comfy handheld foods. The Fork & Knife section offers entrées with a little more pizazz like the Kansas Cut Ribeye, Bird & Shrimp, and Pasta Primavera.

The Little Hikers Menu is perfect for kids with five options. Aspen Sports Bistro keeps the kid menu simple and well priced for children under 12 years old. There are menu items like the Lil Smashed Burger, Grilled Chicken Breast, and Chicken Fingers, all served with your choice of side.

Aspen Sports Bistro Happy Hour

Offering over 100 beers, Aspen Sports Bistro is the place to visit if you like beer! There is a large bar inside the restaurant with bartenders offering to mix up any drink you ask for.

Lady’s Night on Thursdays including $4 Rose, Well Drinks, and White Claws. This is an amazing deal and great for a Girls Night Out. The special starts at 9:00 PM and ends at 2:00 AM, every Thursday night! Happy Hour is Monday – Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM showcasing $2.00 Coors Lights. We enjoyed the $2.00 Coors happy hour after finishing Aspen’s Conundrum hike and boy, did these cold crisp Coors taste good!

What I Ordered

Drinks

Aperol Spritz

An Aperol Spritz was the perfect summery drink to sip on while enjoying a lunch out in the patio area. The Aperol was well pronounced and paired well with the bubbly prosecco.

Mexican Lager – $7.00

We could not dine here without ordering a beer from their long list of craft beers. The 16oz Cerveza from the Roaring Fork Valley was light and refreshing.

Charred Brussels Sprouts – $12.00

These crispy brussels sprouts were to die for! One of my favorite bites of the day was these delectable mini cabbages. The brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection with a nice char on the outside and a steamy tender inside. With every bite, you can hear a light crispy crunch. Added on top was spicy chipotle aioli and creamy queso fresco cheese. The dish is finished off with a sweet acidic drizzle of balsamic, which ties all of the flavors together.

Pulled Pork Sandwich – $20.00 + $2.00

Going for more of a comfy casual bite, we chose to order some good old BBQ. GM, Jason brought in his Kansas City BBQ techniques with this dish, by smoking the pork. The housemade pork was juicy and full of flavor. The BBQ sauce was mild and let the smoked meat shine. We chose to upgrade our side to sweet potato fries and they were a great pick. The sweet potato fries paired well with the smoked meat, toasted butter bun, and sharp cheddar cheese.

Chilean Lemon Crusted Salmon – $39.00

The Chilean Lemon Crusted Salmon is a fan favorite amongst Aspen Sports Bistro patrons. The dish started with a large piece of salmon that is cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The warm corn was the perfect accompaniment to the Chilean spiced salmon. The corn added a bit of sweetness and created a great base for this light dish. One of my favorite parts of this entrée were the baked lemon slices. The lemons were thinly sliced and added a great punch of acidity, and what goes better with salmon than lemon?
