What I Ordered
Happy Hour House Margaritas – $6.00
El Sabor’s hand-mixed margaritas are delicious. With fresh-squeezed lime and fine tequila, these will surely quench your thirst. We loved the short glasses they were served in!
Chips & Salsa – $5.00
You can’t have a margarita without some chips and salsa! El Sabor Vail does not offer complimentary chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants, but at only $5.00 they are a great appetizer to much on. The chips are thin and crisp, and you can get free chip refills. I loved the salsa because it had a hint of heat without being too spicy.
Happy Hour Tacos – $5.00
We ordered both, the chicken and carnitas tacos. The carnitas (pork) tacos were much better than the chicken. I found the chicken tacos good but lacking in flavor. On the other hand, the pork tacos had great flavor. The pork was shredded and had a nice sear on the outside. To top it off, there were pickled onions, roja aioli, cilantro, and cotija cheese. The pickled onions added a great bite of acidity. These yummy bits were enveloped in a handmade corn tortilla. The tortilla was the best part because it was soft, held up to the ingredients, and not oily.
Happy Hour Bacon Cheese – $10.00
El Sabor’s bacon burger is everything a burger should be; juicy, meaty, and delicious. It was a double with cheddar cheese laced throughout. The patties were thin and juicy. Caramelized onions added great flavor and a hint of sweetness. The crispy bacon paired well and added a salty component to the rich cheese and meat juices. I really enjoyed the bun because it was light and toasty. This massive burger came with a side of fries, Cuban corn salad, or rice and beans.
