Felicita Restaurant

Felicita Restaurant Review Budapest, Hungary

Location

Felicita Restaurant is located on the Buda side of Budapest, Hungary. The restaurant is near a fun brunch spot called Á La Maison and a small shopping center. Felicita is open daily from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM.

Type of Restaurant

Felicita Restaurant offers amazing Italian food in style. The medium-sized restaurant has many seating options whether you would like to dine outside or in. A large open bar sits in the center of the restaurant creating symmetry. The decor is next level with green plants, goblet water glasses, small table lamps, and pops of red from flowers, and a retro Felicita sign. I love the eclectic decor feel with a mix of patterns and colors. The restaurant has a wonderful team that is friendly, helpful, and well trained.

The Menu

The menu at Felicita is next level with a wide variety of Italian classics. Their popular pizza entrees are stunning and large. Along with pizza, pasta, salads, and appetizer fill the menu. The restaurant rotates its seasonal risotto, soup, and pizza depending on what ingredients are in season. Watch the bartender mix up your favorite cocktail in the open center bar to enjoy with your meal!

What we Ordered

Wine

Piccini Chianti DOCG 2018 – 1600HUF ~ $5.20USD/per glass

The Piccini Chianti is a well-known wine from the Tuscany region of Italy. This red blend is very dry and the fruity notes paired well with the acidic tomato-based pizza and fried seafood.

Fritto Misto – 4650HUF ~ $15.00USD

One of the best bites of the night was the Fritto Misto appetizer. Fritto Misto is a traditional Italian bite that translates to fried seafood. You will find it all over Italy! For this dish it was misto – mixed seafood, we enjoyed each and every bite of the lightly fried calamari, shrimp, and anchovies. The sweet and spicy chili jam was the perfect accompaniment to the greasy tender fried seafood.

Risotto Di Stagione w/ Shrimp – 4390HUF ~ $14.20USD

The seasonal risotto was good but a little underwhelming. The risotto was cooked perfectly al dente in a cheesy white cream sauce. The added scallions and herbs added hints of flavor but not enough. This dish craved a hint of acidity to take it over the top. I really enjoyed the tender shrimp and crunchy walnuts garnished on top for a change in texture.

Pizza Burrata e Pesto – 4590HUF ~ $14.90USD

What an amazing pizza! The tomato sauce was fresh and acidic giving this indulgent cuisine a sense of lightness. One of the best parts of the pizza is the crust. Their homemade dough was this, cooked well, and airy. Large pieces of prosciutto Crudo layered on top adding saltiness and a change of texture. The only cheese on the whole pizza was the ball of burrata right in the middle. The burrata was soft and creamy. My one negative, was the pesto, I found it overpowering the rest of the dish because of how acidic and tart it was.

Chocolate Profiteroles – 2490HUF ~ $8.00USD

A stack of chocolate-covered profiteroles was brought to the table and wow what a stunning dessert. The shiny blanket of chocolate-covered each profiterole and glistened in the light. Each delicate pastry was light and filled with vanilla cream. It was the perfect light and indulgent bite to end the night on.

Tiramisu – 2290HUF ~ $7.40USD

Felicita knows how to do the Italian classic Tiramisu. We ordered the chocolate profiteroles but our server could not let us leave without trying their popular tiramisu. The tiramisu is absolutely delicious with espresso-soaked ladyfingers, vanilla cream, and dusted cocoa powder. It was everything I had remembered during my study abroad adventure to Rome, Italy.
