Relaxing at 41 Forty One Beach Bar in Santorini, Greece

Forty one beach bar

41 Forty One Beach Bar Review

Location

Forty One Beach Bar and Restaurant is located on the Southside of Santorini near the small upcoming town of Perissa. Perissa is not the white Greek picture everyone thinks of when they hear Santorini. Perissa is flat with gorgeous black sand beaches and offers a more local feel. Forty One Beach Bar is right on the beach and is open daily from 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM.

Beach Bar + Restaurant

Forty One Beach Bar embodies everything a trendy beach bar you picture. Their all-white decor contrasts against the black sand of Paralia Agios Georgios Beach. The restaurant is absolutely stunning with natural wood tables, black textured chairs, and an intricate roped ceiling. Inside transforms to a more sophisticated and intimate feel with dimmed lighting, stone walls, and white leather seats.

If you are looking for more of a special occasion dinner I would suggest reserving a table inside, but if you want to enjoy the sun and the tourists bustling by a seat out on the sand or on the trendy patio would be the best fit. We went for lunch after snorkeling in the Aegean Sea so we opted for more of a laid-back beach vibe on the patio. I absolutely loved the pops of blue with the goblet water glasses. Forty One offers a variety of cuisines, from sushi to gourmet hamburgers, there is plenty to choose from.

What we Ordered

Ceviche – €14.50

The ceviche was fresh and unique. It was a gorgeous dish reflecting the colors of the sea. There was a great mix of fish, mango, lime, and spice. The texture was spot on and the fresh fish and lime aromas wafted in the air. It was good but I found the chili too overpowering and thought the dish could use some chips or something to accompany it.

Lamb Shank Braise – €18.80

The best bite of the day was the lamb shank. I really enjoyed the richness of this dish. One large piece of braised lamb shank sat on a bed of Greek pasta and topped with Mizithra cheese. The al dente pasta was coated with a light red wine and herb sauce. Braised lamb shank is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. The meat fell right off the bone, was juicy, and full of flavor. A good amount of Mizithra cheese topped the ensemble and I was one happy girl. Mizithra cheese has a tangy nutty flavor with a texture of feta. I thoroughly enjoyed this comforting dish.

Chicken Fillet – €13.50

The chicken fillet was a simple dish with chicken, sweet potato puree, and sautéed mushrooms. The chicken was juicy and tender. I really enjoyed the sweet potato puree as it was simple and added a nice creamy texture to the dish. I think the mushrooms could have used some improvement on the presentation and texture. Overall, this was a tasty entree, perfect for a light beach meal.

Ekmek Dessert – €12.50

We got a small dessert to finish off the meal. Ekmek is a traditional Greek dessert made of baked kataifi. Kataifi is a pastry dough that is very stringy and when cooked gets crispy. Once baked, the crunchy kataifi is soaked in a fruity syrup. Forty One topped theirs with mastic cream and ice cream. The kataifi is unique and I think would be good with some plain tangy greek yogurt. It has a fun texture and quite an addictive flavor. I did not care for the mastic cream as I am not a huge fan of the flavor. Mastic tastes like a mix of fennel, anise, and mint.
