Küche 18 Restaurant – Where to get the Best Ramen in Vienna, Austria

Küche 18

Küche 18 Vienna, Austria Restaurant Review

Location

Küche 18 is located just outside the heart of Vienna, Austria, on Wahringer Street. This street is filled with shops, cultural food, and a large metro stop. Küche 18 is open Sunday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Type of Restaurant + Menu

Küche 18 is an adorable casual restaurant serving authentic Chinese food. The restaurant has a mix of styles with arched wall accents, dark table cloths, and ornate wallpaper. Asian food has a large presence within Vienna and is a great change from the traditional goulash or strudel. The service was very helpful even with a large language barrier. Küche 18 offers many different Chinese dishes, ramen, sushi, and sashimi. They do have English menus upon request.

What we Ordered

Drinks

Chardonnay Muschelkalk – €4,30

A large glass of Austrian wine was brought to the table. This chardonnay was bright with a subtle aged vanilla note. It paired well with the spicy chicken curry and chicken satay.

Tsing Tao Beer – €3,90

What a fun and unique beer! The Tsing Tao Chinese beer was refreshing with a long-lasting aftertaste. Tsing Tao beer was invented during the German Purity Act in 1516, which limited the used ingredients to just water, hops, and barley.

Miso Soup – €3,50 + Chicken Satay €5,50

It was a cold rainy day in Vienna and miso soup was the perfect appetizer to warm your insides. The miso soup was flavorful and hot. Chicken satay is a must-order here. The chicken is tender and juicy with the best peanut sauce. The sauce covered the chicken fully and was extremely flavorful.

Chicken Curry Entree – €12,90

What an amazing and warm dish on a cold day in Vienna. The warm curry spices hugged me tight and added a bit of heat to the dish. The mix of stewed vegetables was delicious and offered something different in each bite. The soft stewed sweet potatoes soaked up the curry sauce and bursted with flavor. The chicken was amazingly tender and melted in your mouth. I highly recommend ordering this dish!

Pork Belly & Kimchi Ramen – €12,50

The kimchi and pork belly ramen was unlike any ramen I have ever had. The broth was rich in flavor and warm with hints of the spicy and acidic kimchi popping through. Pork belly added a change in texture and depth to this comforting dish. The noodles were long and dense creating the perfect slurp and chew. Overall this was an amazing dish and one of the best ramens I have ever tasted.

California Roll – €8,50

After reading many raving reviews about Küche 18’s sushi, I was a bit disappointed. The rolls were very large and a bit too much rice for my liking. I found the shrimp also quite chewy.
