La Bottega

La Bottega Restaurant Review – A Northern Italian Restaurant in Vail, Colorado

Vail Colorado Summer

Location

La Bottega is located on Meadow Drive in Vail Village. This restaurant is in a prime location for tourists and locals to stop in for dinner and a drink on the sunny patio. La Bottega is open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. This is a popular restaurant for dinner so be sure to get a reservation by calling 970-476-0280 or with Opentable. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Type of Restaurant

La Bottega is a Northern Italian restaurant serving some of the best pasta dishes in the valley. Owners Stephen and Elizabetta Virion make a dynamic duo. Their love for food, travel, and wine has inspired La Bottega’s design and cuisine. You will be transported to Tuscany with brick archways and garlic aromas wafting from the kitchen. The restaurant has had many expansions and upgrades, creating a great restaurant to join friends and family.

“Come in to Celebrando La Vita!” – Stephen and Elizabetta

An Italian phrase meaning “Celebrate Life!”

The Menu

La Bottega’s menu is full of enticing Northern Italian dishes like bruschetta, pizza, pasta, and special entrées. You will not be disappointed! The pizzas are a must-order because they are cooked in a stone oven right in the middle of the dining room. You can easily spend your entire evening here eating your way through a true four-hour Italian dinner. La Bottega also has a great lunch menu that offers sandwiches and pizza.

Price ($$$)

La Bottega is an upscale restaurant with higher-priced dishes. Entrées range from $30 to $65, with pasta dishes from $20 to $60. While this is a bit more of an expensive restaurant, the food and dining experience is well worth the price! Most restaurants in Vail for a nice evening dinner will be similar in price.

Wine List

The wine list is all on one page and offers a great variety of red, white, and sparkling wines. La Bottega’s wine list is fit for an Italian dinner with a variety of Italian varietals. Some you may not know, ask your server for a description or google the bottle. Try something new while you enjoy your small vacation in Northern Italy for the night.

What I Ordered

Wine

ILLUMINATI “ILICO” RISERVA MONTEPULCIANO ABRUZZI $13.50

The Montepulciano from Illuminati Winery in Italy was a fantastic wine with cherry, blackberry, and oak notes. A fun winery to pronounce that produces a great mild red wine.

MASSERIA FRATTASI “CAUDIUM” AGLIANICO CAMPANIA $13.50

The Aglianico from Campania Italy was a great pick with dark fruits, spices, and earthy notes. This is a bold wine that paired well with our pizza and pasta dishes.

Bread Basket – Complimentary

The complimentary bread basket is a nice touch and a great start to a fabulous dinner. There is olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table, mix up the two with a crack of black pepper and take your bread for a swim!

Caprese – $9.50

Caprese is a classic Italian appetizer with tomato, basil, and mozzarella. At La Bottega Caprese is served bruschetta style on a piece of toasted bread. The bread acts as a great utensil to soak up the olive oil and tart balsamic mixture.

Signature Linguine – $28.50

WITH LUMP CRABMEAT, SHRIMP, ASPARAGUS, SUN DRIED TOMATO

The signature linguine was my favorite bite of the evening. The linguine was cooked to perfect al dente. This was a light pasta dish packed with fine ingredients. Shrimp and lump crab meat were found in every bite, adding a salty seafood flavor. One of my favorite parts of the dish was the blistered tomatoes, they burst with umami flavor. The sauce is light and pairs well with the seafood, asparagus, and basil chiffonade. A blanket of fresh parmesan garnished the dish off.

4 Stagioni – $15.25

TOMATO, MOZZARELLA, HAM, MUSHROOMS, ARTICHOKE, OLIVES

We could not resist ordering the 4 Stagioni pizza after seeing it pass by going to other patron’s tables. 4 Stagioni translates to the four seasons. Each topping representing a different season in Northern Italy. This 12in pizza lived up to the hipe! The pizza is sectioned into four with one topping per section. Rather than putting all toppings onto the pizza mixed together, they are separated. This is an authentic way of topping pizzas. There was a good amount of toppings per section. It felt like we had 4 pizzas in one because each slice offered something completely different than the one before. My favorites were the artichoke and mushroom!

Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This was one amazing dinner filled with great service, delicious food, and special company. We will definitely be back!
