Le Jardin French Bakery in Isla Holbox – Breakfast Review

Le Jardin Holbox

Location

Le Jardin French bakery is located in Isla Holbox, Mexico just a few blocks from the beach and El Centro. It is a large bright yellow building with a pink roof that you cannot miss. Le Jardin French Bakery is only open in the morning for breakfast from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Type of Restaurant

Le Jardin is a French bakery and restaurant. This is a small indoor/outdoor eatery with authentic French pastries and breakfast items. The main dining area sits under a large palapa ceiling with comfortable bamboo and leather seating. It has a beachy vibe with a colorful design and wicker accents. There are three large maps hung on the wall with many colorful pins stuck in each place people have traveled from. This is a fun and interactive activity that creates a warm and inviting feel. We stuck our pin in at Vail, Colorado, it is amazing to see the wide variety of people that have dined here.

Le Jardin French Bakery is a cafeteria-style restaurant, you will order at the counter with the French gentleman that is the owner of the café. The food is brought to your table, and ready to be dug into. This is a laid-back café that creates a relaxing and enjoyable environment. There is free Wi-Fi available if you are looking to relax, get some work done, and much on some scrumptious French pastries.

Le Jardin French Bakery Menu

Le Jardin French Bakery has a long menu that is mainly filled with freshly baked French pastries. Some of their top pastries are the banana Nutella-filled muffin, flakey croissants, and provencal tart (Traditional Southern France savory pastry). There is a small section with breakfast favorites like fruit, yogurt, eggs, and omelets. They also offer large sandwiches that look very tasty and filling. Their sandwiches are very popular with a wide variety of French fillings.

What I Ordered

Americano Black Coffee – $25pesos ~ $1.20USD

Coffee is a hard thing to find in many Mexican city’s, so we were happy to see an Americano coffee on the menu. It was nothing special but gave us our caffeine fix for the day. The mugs were absolutely charming with different loving phrases printed on the front.

Traditional Omelet – $90pesos ~ $4.50USD

The traditional omelet comes with turkey, ham, and cheese. It looks a bit different than most omelets because of its thin bubbly texture. The traditional French omelet is exceptional, with rich gooey cheese that is incorporated into the egg mixture. The turkey and ham add great savory saltiness. This is one of the top omelets I have ever tasted, and I am an omelet connoisseur!

Bagel with Cream Cheese + Salmon – $95pesos ~ $4.50USD

The special of the day was a toasted bagel with cream cheese, fresh salmon, and capers. We are on an island so why not get some fresh seafood for breakfast. The bagel was toasted perfectly with a great shmear of cold cream cheese. The thinly sliced salmon was full of flavor and the salty capers complemented it perfectly. Every bite offered a little bit of everything, making this a great dish.

Fresh Fruits Plate – $100pesos ~ $5USD

Kiwi, Banana, Clementine, Grapes, Mango, Papaya, Melon

The fresh fruits plate is an absolute must-order! It came out with a gorgeous display of fresh-cut fruit in the shape of a beach scene with a palm tree, sun, and flowers. All of the fruits were fresh, juicy, and full of flavor.
