Mici Handcrafted Italian Review

Mici Handcrafted Italian Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Locations

Mici Handcrafted Italian has multiple locations scatted throughout the Eastern slope of Colorado. Find them in Highlands Ranch, Denver, Lafayette, Parker, and Colorado Springs. I had the pleasure of visiting their location in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Mici Restaurants are open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM for lunch and dinner.

Casual Italian Restaurant

Mici Handcrafted Italian is a casual restaurant with authentic Italian dishes. Siblings Michael, Kim, and Jeff Miceli opened the concept in 2004. Each and every restaurant is built on three pillars; Real Family, Real Food, Real Italian. We were welcomed with open arms by Joe Melton when arriving at the Highlands Ranch location. He made us feel right at home and gave us some great recommendations on what to order. The decor is modern with a hint of Italian charm. I could definitely see myself ordering a glass of wine, a pizza, and pulling out my laptop to get some work done here.

“… great Italian food that cares about the people.”

– Joe Melton

The Menu

The menu at Mici Italian is filled with classic Italian family staples. Chefs use family recipes passed down from the Miceli family and pay tribute to the authentic recipes by using high-quality ingredients. The prosciutto and Parmigiano-Reggiano are authentically Italian and imported from the charming country. The menu offers everything from pasta, pizza, wine, gelato, and salads. The Mici restaurants are a favorite amongst families because of the laid-back feel and kids eat free on Mondays!

What I Ordered

Casa Large Salad – $9.99

This was a delicious salad, one of my favorite bites at Mici. The leafy greens cradled my favorite salad toppings perfectly. The crumbled gorgonzola added a nice funk, while the nutty candied whole walnuts added a hint of sweetness. I loved the whole walnuts because they added great texture. Another element of texture came from the crisp red grapes. To top this tasty ensemble off, an acidic balsamic dressing is drizzled on top. The one and only thing I would change about this salad, are the grapes. I would cut them in half because the whole grapes are hard to stab with a fork.

10″ Caprarola – $9.99

The Caprarola pizza is one of Mici’s top-selling pizzas and is topped with pepperoni, family-recipe sausage, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, and mozzarella. The mix of toppings adds wonderful flavor and texture. The homemade dough is cooked in a stone oven which creates those brown blistered pockets to the border, which adds a charred flavor. The crust was light and thin allowing for the fresh ingredients to shine.

Tortellini alla Miceli – $12.49

A highly recommended decadent dish by Joe Melton, was the Tortellini Alla Miceli. This family recipe has salty Parmigiano-Reggiano cream sauce, freshly chopped garlic, imported prosciutto di parma, and green peas mixed in delicate tortellini pasta. Each and every tortellini was coated with just the right amount of creamy sauce. The peas added a nice pop of freshness, while the prosciutto di parma added saltiness and depth of flavor. This was a rich and delicious dish.
