Located in the heart of picturesque Ketchum, Idaho, Rickshaw Restaurant is not just a dining experience—it’s a culinary escapade that transports your taste buds to a realm of Asian flavors and delights. As a seasoned foodie, I’ve explored numerous eateries, but Rickshaw truly stands out as a special and intimate dining experience, earning its spot as the top restaurant in Ketchum.
Do note Rickshaw does not take reservations, they are on a first come first serve bases!
Rickshaw’s Concept & Menu
Rickshaw is more than just a place to satisfy your hunger; it’s a gastronomic haven where passion for Southeast Asian flavors and exceptional service collide. The ambiance exudes a perfect blend of warmth and sophistication, making it an ideal spot for a casual rendezvous or a celebratory feast. The moment you step in, the cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff make you feel like a welcomed guest in a friend’s home.
With a nod to traditional Asian flavors, the menu is a carefully curated journey through the authentic ingredients and skillfully crafted dishes. Rickshaw’s menu is designed for family style dining with smaller portions that are meant to be shared. I loved this because you get to try a little bit of everything. From the savory and spicy depth of Vietnamese Ribs to the comforting embrace of Udon Noodles, each item reflects a commitment to quality and tradition.
After exploring Southeast Asia for four months, I can confidently say that this dining experience showcases the authenticity found in a blend of diverse Asian cultures. The menu caters to a broad spectrum of tastes, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Rickshaw’s menu isn’t merely a compilation of dishes; it serves as a passport to the genuine atmosphere of a family-run Asian restaurant, reminiscent of those nestled in various Southeast Asian countries.
Hoisin Cashew-Shrimp
Treat yourself to the tasty goodness of Hoisin Cashew Shrimp with plump shrimp and perfectly cooked rice. Every bite is a mix of sweet and savory flavors that blend together beautifully. The cashews add a buttery crunch while the green onion adds freshness. This was one of the best bites of the night that kept us coming back for more!
Vietnamese Caramel Pork Ribs
Prepare your taste buds for a flavor explosion with the Vietnamese Ribs at Rickshaw. The succulent, fall-off-the-bone ribs shows off their skills in the kitchen. The sticky-sweet glaze, infused with aromatic herbs and Thai chilies, elevates this dish to a culinary masterpiece. The Thai chilies left your lips a little tingly in a good way, after all you have to have a little spice when eating Southeast Asian food!
Chili-Oil Udon Noodles
The Udon Noodles are a comfort food lover’s dream come true. The chewy noodles swimming in a rich, umami-packed broth are a bowl of pure bliss. Topped with cilantro, peanuts, and scallions this dish showcases Rickshaw’s commitment to quality and taste. This is such a simple dish but it hugs you in all the right places and a perfect accompaniment to those Vietnamese ribs.
Andreas’ Pot-Stickers
Once we saw pot-stickers on the menu we knew right away we had to have them and they exceeded all expectations. The pork pot-stickers were a joy to eat with their subtle softness, a flavor-packed pork filling, and a sweet chili sauce . Each bite is a journey through layers of taste, showcasing the culinary finesse that sets Rickshaw apart from the rest.
Chocolate Truffle Bar
Leave room for dessert because you will want to try this velvety rich chocolate truffle bar. The buttery gram cracker crust adds an amazing texture element to the melt in your mouth dark chocolate. A nod to the Southeast Asian cuisine is the crowning glory—a drizzle of ginger crème anglaise. The silky smoothness of the anglaise adds a subtle warmth and complexity. This chocolate truffle bar is a perfect fusion of textures and tastes that leaves a memorable impression after an amazing dinner.
