1. Steamboat Springs Bike Path
Bring your bikes because Steamboat has one of the best bike paths. The Yampa River Core Trail runs along the Yampa River and throughout the entire downtown Steamboat area. This trail makes for a great way to explore downtown in a fun and efficient way. Bring your favorite snacks to enjoy at the various parks and stopping points along the way!
2. Hiking in Steamboat Springs
Steamboat Springs has some great hiking trails. The most popular trail is Fish Creek Falls. This gorgeous hike is available to everyone no matter what your hiking level is. Take in the views of the flowing waterfall at the end. There is also Emerald Mountain, near the rodeo and the ski jump. This hike provides gorgeous views of the valley and downtown. Fall season is my favorite time of the year to enjoy these hikes because of the cooler temperatures and the foliage changing colors.
3. Where to eat in Steamboat Springs?
Steamboat Springs has some great restaurants, a few of my favorites include 8th Street Steakhouse, Salt & Lime, and Yampa Valley Kitchen. 8th Street Steakhouse has the ultimate happy hour and if you are looking for a fun cooking experience this is the place. Whether you like it or not you grill your own meat, so grab your drink and set your timers and enjoy the experience.
4. Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo
Scheduled every Friday and Saturday nights is the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo. This highly attended event is the talk of the town on the weekends and a fun experience if you have never been to a rodeo. Put your country boots and hat on and grab your favorite snack and enjoy the show!
5. Where to Stay in Steamboat Springs
My favorite hotel in all of Steamboat Springs lies at the base of the ski resort at the Steamboat Grand. This large resort has a full health club, pool, two hot tubs, restaurants, and more. It the perfect getaway during the summer months to escape the crowd.
If you are looking to be in downtown, then I highly suggest booking your stay at the Bristol Inn. This one of a kind boutique hotel is the perfect place for those wanting to explore the charming shops and restaurants of downtown Steamboat Springs.
6. Off the Beaten Path Bookstore and Café
One of my favorite bookstores lies in the middle of downtown Steamboat Springs. Off the Beaten Path Bookstore welcomes you with an eclectic design, fresh baked pastries, and books galore! I love visiting on a rainy day, grabing a cub of coffee, eating a delicious pastry, and opening a book.
7. Explore Steamboat Springs Downtown
Steamboat Springs has one of the best downtowns amongst the ski towns in Colorado. It is filled with charming shops, delicious restaurants, and fun nightlife. One store you cannot miss is F M Light and Sons. This country store has been around for over 100 years outfitting cowboys and cowgirls with hats, boots, attire and more. Even if you aren’t into country clothing it is still a great store to check out!
8. Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs
Steamboat Springs really does offer a little bit of everything including a natural hot springs. Strawberry Park has been well awarded for their all natural hot springs and spa. You can either spend an entire day here or just soak for a few hours. They offer lodging options for those looking for a weekend retreat in the mountains.
*This is a cash only activity so make sure to pack enough upon visiting.
9. Yampa River Botanic Garden
One of the best places to visit during Steamboats Springs beautiful Summer and Fall months is the Yampa River Botanic Garden. This well maintained area is filled with various plants, flowers, and vegetables. It is a great place to enjoy the outdoors and walk around. On select nights, there is live entertainment and events hosted here.
10. Mt. Werner
During the winter months Mt. Werner is filled with skiers and snowboarders from around the world, but take away the snow and you will find bikers, hikers, and a ton of wildlife. There are numerous trails lining the mountain waiting to be explored. I highly suggest taking the day exploring and packing a small picnic to enjoy at the many viewpoints. Not filling up for a hike, no worries, the Steamboat Springs gondola will be waiting to take you up to the top.
