Ao Nang Krabi

The Ultimate Ao Nang Krabi Travel Guide

Ao Nang is located in the region of Krabi, Thailand. This small beach town offers a slower pace, it is budget friendly, and there is a bounty of activities to do. Ao Nang Krabi may be one of my favorite towns Thailand has to offer. It is known to be one of the greatest rock climbing areas in the world along with gorgeous beaches and the unique long tail boats. Ao Nang Krabi should definitely be on your Thailand Bucket List!

Getting To Ao Nang

There are a variety of ways to reach Ao Nang Krabi, it all depends where you are coming from. If you are coming from the bustling city of Bangkok, catch a flight to Krabi Airport. Once you have claimed your bags and exit the arrival hall you will be met with ladies selling shuttle tickets to Krabi Town and Ao Nang. This is not a private option but I highly recommend it, the shuttle drops you off right at your hotel, it is easy, and safe. They are set prices and cash only!

If you are coming from the touristy island of Phuket, hop on one of the ferries and take it all the way to the port in Krabi. Once you are at the port catch a shuttle bus the ferry offers to get to your hotel.

Accommodation

Ao Nang Krabi is a touristy place, with that they offer any type of accommodation from budget hostels to 5-star resorts. This is a small town so you do not need to worry about location too much, just be sure to stay in walking distance to the beach! For medium to budget friendly I highly recommend Glow Hotel. The staff is amazing, the pool is large and a great hangout spot, the rooms are modern clean and comfortable. We stayed here for one week and had a great stay!

Looking for that 5-Star Resort with stunning beach views, look no further than Tinidee Hideaway Tonsai Beach Krabi. This is a hidden gem located on Tonsai Beach. The only way to reach this hotel is via boat, making it that much more exclusive and private.

Where to Eat

One thing Ao Nang Krabi doesn’t skimp on is the variety of delicious food it offers. You will find anything and everything from local Thai food to spicy Indian dishes. A great lunch spot serving cheap freshly cooked Thai food head to Papaya Salad & Thai Food. For the number one breakfast in town, head to The Brightside Bistro, their coffee and freshly cooked healthy breakfast options are to die for!

Not sure what you want to eat? Head to the Ao Nang Night Market. This way one of our favorite night markets in all of Thailand. It is clean, offers a variety of food, and most nights there is live entertainment.

Things To Do in Ao Nang

Ao Nang is really a unique town with many offerings. One of the most popular things to do is booking a island boat tour. There are two main options, the four island tour or the seven island tour. We chose the seven island tour at sunset. It included visitation to seven islands, snorkeling, BBQ sunset dinner, and swimming with the bioluminescence. This was an amazing experience packed with fun great people. Don’t forget to see the picturesque Railay Beach!

If you are up for the challenge rent a scooter and take a 30-minute drive to the Tiger Temple. This is a large temple located on the top of 1,260 stairs. It is quite the climb so be sure to bring plenty of water and plan your visit during the cooler part of the day.

For a slower relaxing day, grab a towel and head to Ao Nang’s stunning beach. After soaking up the sun, get a Thai massage at one of the many massage places in town, one of my favorites is the Massage Corner.
