Ein Prosit Frisco – Authentic German Food in the Rocky Mountains

Location

Ein Prosit is located on Main Street in Frisco, Colorado. Frisco is an adorable town nestled right in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Breckenridge Ski Resort is just a quick 15-minute drive from this authentic German eatery, making this a prime location for some beer and sausage after a day of skiing or hiking.

Ein Prosit Beer Hall

Ein Prosit Frisco German Restaurant

Ein Prosit is an authentic fast-casual restaurant in the heart of Frisco. Ein Prosit means “cheers” in German. This restaurant captures the name with its long list of European beers and authentic German atmosphere. Many locals and tourists were here on a Monday afternoon grabbing some German food and chatting with one another.

An eclectic design adds to the German charm with flags, mugs, and signs. One thing I did not like was the numerous paper signs with Covid safety regulations. It junked up the restaurant and diverted from the gorgeous mountain views outside. This German eatery is oddly located inside an antique store. The antique store adds to the charm and makes for a great place to stroll through while your homemade sausages sizzle on the grill. All orders are taken at the bar and the food is brought to your table.

Ein Prosit Frisco Menu

Ein Prosit has a simple menu comprising of sausages, sandwiches, and beer. This restaurant stands out from the rest with its authentic German food and drinks. There is a long list of Bavarian and Belgium beer to chose from. Bavarian is the largest state in Germany and hosts the famous Oktoberfest. This is an affordable spot to grub on some delicious authentic cuisine, one person can easily eat here for under $10, add a drink and you will be right around $15.

Ein Prosit Frisco has a long list of homemade sausages, from traditional to exotic. On the traditional side, you will find Prosit Oktoberfest Beer Brat, Frankfurter, and Käsekrainer. If you want to get out of your comfort zone, try their exotic sausages, like Duck w/cilantro, Antelope Rabbit & Habenero, and even Rattlesnake, Pheasant, and Jalapeno. With so many delicious options it is difficult to just pick one.

Ein Prosit Frisco offers Sausage Samplers, with two, three, or four sausages of your choosing. All sausages are gluten-free except the beer and veal brats. Ein Prosit Frisco also sells all of their sausages deli-style, so you can enjoy their brats beyond the walls of this German Pub.

The menu also offers sandwiches, sides, pretzels, and homemade desserts. If we were not so full at the end of our meal I would have definitely tried their homemade apple strudel!

What I Ordered

Stiegl Beer in Colorado

You cannot go to a German Beer Hall without getting a beer. After chatting with the bartender, I landed on the Stiegel draft beer. This is a Golden Lager from Austria, it is light and flavorful. The Stiegel was the perfect pairing to our Sausage Sampler and German Pretzel.

Ein Prosit Frisco Sausage Sampler

Käsekrainer (Cheese Brat)

A thick Austrian sausage with large chunks of cheese. The cheddar cheese is gooey and indulgent. This was one of our favorites because it was decadent and juicy.

Stiegl Beer Brat

A traditional German brat that is cooked in Stiegl Beer, then grilled to perfection. This sausage was mild and paired well with the mustard seed sauce.

Elk Jalapeno Cheddar

Our exotic choice of meat was made of elk, pepper, and cheese. Elk is a lean cut of meat but this sausage remained juicy and packed a punch with a gamey flavor. The spicy jalapeno crept up on you right at the end and paired well with a refreshing bite of crisp pickle.

We wanted to try a variety of this traditional German food, so we chose the Three Sausage Sampler, two from the traditional and one from the exotic menu. The pickles and sauerkraut added great acidity to the rich sausages. An array of complimentary mustard sauces are available for dipping. The brats were delicious and packed full of flavor. With our extra pretzel bites, we made small sausage sandwiches making this a fun and interactive lunch date.

Bavarian Pretzel with Liptauer Cheese

A traditional German food – the pretzel. This homemade pretzel was served hot and steamy. It had a hard crust on the outside with a soft, chewy texture in the middle. The salt was a nice touch but a bit too much on one side. A large scoop of Liptauer cheese is an additional cost and well worth it. Liptauer cheese originated in Hungary and is made up of sheep milk, cottage cheese, quark (cream cheese), and goat cheese. It has a spicy kick to it with paprika and pepper. The spicy cheese was a great addition to the warm pretzel.
