Muse Bistro Review Athens, Greece

Location

Muse Bistro is located inside The Gem Society Hotel in Athens, Greece. This modern bistro is centrally located just a quick five-minute walk from the main tourist attractions. Muse Bistro is open daily from 8:00 AM to midnight serving breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner.

Type of Restaurant

Muse Bistro has a unique style with geometric patterns and pops of color. Their trademarked ‘teal green’ bar and open-air kitchen invite you in with the aromas of comforting food and sounds of cocktails being made. A large black and white photo makes for a great conversation piece. Muse Bistro is the perfect place to enjoy a mixed cocktail and a one-of-a-kind meal in the center of downtown Athens.

The Menu

Muse Bistro offers an exceptional al la carte Mediterranean-inspired menu. Chef Themis and his well-trained team create seasonal dishes with high-quality fresh ingredients from local markets. What we Ordered

Dips + Kritsinia – €3.00

Tarama – White
Kalamata Black Olive Tapenade – Dark Green
Smoked Tomatoes + Olive Oil – Red

The dips with homemade bread and oat breadsticks were an amazing starter. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every dip in its own beauty. The savory tarama sauce was smooth and velvety. Tamara is fish roe blended with onion and sunflower seed. Olive trees are everywhere in Greece so it is only fitting that a tapenade was on the dip list. The Kalamata black olive tapenade with everything salty, juicy, and full of texture. My favorite dip was the smoked tomato with olive oil. The smoky and sweet tomato sauce was well made, fresh, and flavorful. Each dip paired well with the deliciously warm homemade bread and oat breadsticks.

Moussaka Ravioli, Anthotyro Cheese Cream – €10.00

A highly recommended dish was the homemade ravioli stuffed with moussaka. Moussaka is a layered savory Greek dish that includes eggplant or potatoes, ground meat, spices, and tomato. Muse Bistro puts their spin on this popular dish by stuffing handmade ravioli with traditional moussaka ingredients. The homemade ravioli was perfectly prepared and cooked. The stuffing had eggplant and ground meat that added great texture. This is a well thought out unique and inventive dish. The textures were spot on but it craved salt and a bit more flavor in the broth.

Grilled Beef Ribeye – €16.00

The grilled ribeye was a flavorsome dish that was well prepared and stunning. The tender meat was cooked to perfect medium-rare. Grilled vegetables added a pop of color and a charred vegetable flavor. Bright and acidic homemade chimichurri sauce paired well with each element. It is a stunning dish with artfully plated chimichurri and perfectly sliced ribeye.

Pan Seared Sea Bass – €16.00

Muse Bistro’s pan-seared sea bass is a lovely Mediterranean dish. The sea bass was a gorgeous cut with salty and crispy skin. The delicate fish melted in your mouth and contrasted well against the seared crunchy skin. The skin added amazing flavor to the delicate white fish. Mussels were plated on the side along with lemon-dill rice and toasted pine nuts.

Chocolate Sable Tart – €8.00

To finish off this delicious meal we ordered the All-Chocolate Sablé Tart. This four-layered: sablé, ice cream, ganache, and sponge cake was chocolate on top of chocolate (my favorite kind of dessert). The firm sablé tart was dolloped with a thick chocolate ganache and topped with velvety chocolate ice cream. On the side was a spongy chocolate cake ball. The mix of textures danced in your mouth.
