Holbox Foodie Market – A Must Visit Place for Isla Holbox’s Most Famous Dish

Holbox Foodie Market is located just one block from the main beach of Isla Holbox, Mexico. There is one large Holbox Foodie Market at the entrance so you cannon miss it. Open in the afternoon and evening from 1:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Holbox Foodie Market is a market-style restaurant with a variety of food stalls to order from, hence the market name. This is a very laid-back indoor/outdoor restaurant. The décor grasps the island vibe with palapas, wood tables, and large string chandeliers. A bright pink #good vibes Holbox sign acts as the perfect photo backdrop. We were welcomed by a nice gentleman that explained the market-style layout and what they have to offer. As the staff was very helpful and friendly, they could work on the cleanliness of the restaurant a bit more.
Holbox Foodie Market Menu
This restaurant is laid out in a market-style with different wooden food stalls offering a variety of food. You will find options for sushi, pizza, hamburgers, tacos, and cocktails. Once you have ordered you will be a given a number and your food will be delivered to your table. The tacos were a huge hit, as we saw many people ordering them. They looked colorful, large, and appetizing. The featured Lobster Pizza is also a popular dish.
There is a full bar with a long list of cocktails and beers. They make all drinks by hand with great tequila and mezcal. Holbox Foodie Market has a daily happy hour from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with 2 for 1 cocktails on margaritas, blackaritas, mojito cilantros (per person).
Price
Holbox Foodie Market is reasonably priced with great food and large portions. The handmade cocktails range from $95pesos to $165pesos. The food is very affordable with cheap tacos and pizzas. The lobster pizza is a Holbox classic and can be quite a bit more expensive than most restaurants. Skip the larger well-known lobster pizza restaurants like Roots and La Miranda De Rulo. You will pay double the price for a similar lobster pizza. Holbox Foodie Market makes the best Isla Holbox lobster pizza at a great price. They do accept credit cards at each food stand.

Margarita – $105pesos ~ $5.25USD
Tequila, Lemon
The margarita was strong and flavorful. I picked up on a warm floral note from the lemon which was very tasty and paired well with the savory lobster pizza.
Isla Holbox Blackarita – $145pesos ~ $7.50USD
Mezcal, Charcoal, Lemon
The Blackarita was quite different from a regular margarita because of the mezcal liquor. The mezcal gave it a smoky and earthy flavor. The charcoal addition gives the Blackarita a signature dark color.

Famous Lobster Pizza – $350pesos ~ $17.50USD
The Lobster Pizza is a traditional dish in Isla Holbox. You cannot visit the island without tasting the town’s signature dish. It is a refreshing, rich, and delicious bite. The pizza took a while to come out but when it did it was a show stopper with steam coming off the top and a buttery garlic aroma following it. A gorgeous display of fresh-caught chopped rock lobster laid on a blanket on melted cheese in a 12-inch circle. The fresh-cut tomatoes added great acidity to the rich lobster flavor. The crust was baked well and held up to the many toppings.
