The Ultimate Patong Phuket Travel Guide

Patong Phuket

Your Patong, Phuket Travel Guide

Patong has become one of the top tourist destinations on the island of Phuket in Thailand. Its variety of activities allows for everyone to find something they love. It is mostly known for its wild night life along Bangla Road, but if you explore it a bit more you will be opened up to culture, outdoors, and delicious bites. In this Patong, Phuket travel guide you will get to know the area a bit more and have some insider tips on where to stay, what to eat, and things to do!

Getting To Patong Phuket

Patong is one of the main tourist towns of Phuket located on the west side of the island. It is quite easy to get to with Phuket’s international airport located about an hour drive north. Grab is the number one ride sharing app in Thailand and is quite affordable. There is a more budget friendly option, which is the local Airport Bus that picks up near Patong Beach, though this is the more cost efficient, it takes about twice the time because of the many stops along the way.

Accommodation

For budget to moderate travelers, The Royal Paradise Hotel & Spa. This tall building offers clean, large, modern hotel rooms at a great price. The service is amazing, and amenities are everything you could ask for. If budget is not a worry, book your stay at the Amari Phuket. This ocean side resort offers a variety of accommodation options from hotel rooms to two-bedroom villas. I highly recommend booking a Club Suite to get the full experience!

Where to Eat

Patong offers a variety of food and specializes in a few of their own local dishes. I highly suggest trying Phuket’s yellow noodle dish, it is a bit different than your regular pad Thai. My favorite place for Phuket yellow noodles is at ZomPaul Eatery. Looking for a relaxed lunch spot with light sandwiches? Head to The Sandwich Shoppe. This hidden gem bakes their homemade bread fresh daily. You must try their herbed focaccia!

Beat the heat with Phuket’s rolled ice cream. You will find these entertaining sweet stations at markets. Pick your favorite flavor and watch the pros work their magic. This is honestly some of the best peanut butter ice cream I have ever tasted!

I highly recommend planning at least one upscale dinner on the beach in Phuket. My go to place is La Gritta inside the Amari Phuket Resort. This is a full experience in itself with panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and delectable Italian dishes made by a highly awarded female chef.

Things To Do in Patong Phuket

Patong, Phuket has quite a lot to offer when it comes to activities. Their large beach has a lot going on, with surfers catching waves, paragliders flying in the air, jet skis doing donuts, and more. At night Bangla Road lights, up and becomes quite a unique place with bars, women, and shows.

Rent a scooter for the day and explore the entirety of Phuket Island. The Big Buddha is one of the top tourist attractions on the island. Sitting 45 meters atop a hillside it is one big buddha you can’t miss in Thailand.

One of my favorite activities is the Karon Viewpoint Hike. This short inclined hike takes you to a stunning view of the three beaches; Karon, Kata, and Patong. Try to plan this hike on a clear day to get the best views!

You may notice some trucks driving around during the day announcing upcoming Muay Thai fights on an intercom. Phuket has some of the best Muay Thai fighting in the country. This is a great experience that opens you up to the Thai culture while still yet hitting home by being at a sporting event, eating popcorn and drinking a Coke.
