Review on Sammy’s Bistro in Park City – Featured on Diners Drive-Ins & Dives
Location
Sammy’s Bistro is located right off of Bonanza Drive in a small restaurant strip mall. I was surprised to find Sammy’s Bistro not located in Downtown Park City with all of the other trendy restaurants and shops. It was a nice change up and I got to explore Park City a bit more. The location is great, because there is plenty of free parking. We shuttled to the ski resort everyday and joked because every time we passed Sammy’s Bistro we heard someone comment on it being on Triple D with amazing food. Sammy’s Bistro does not accept reservations, it is first come first serve only!
Type of Restaurant
Sammy’s Bistro is a one of a kind bistro serving up dishes for everyone to enjoy, even Guy Fieri. Sammy’s Bistro was featured on Diners Drive-Ins & Dives Season 19, Episode 8 – Cross Country Food.
A sports bar with a family friendly feel, this restaurant is casual and welcoming. Sammy’s Bistro has a large bar right when you walk in. There are TVs placed throughout the building for some prime time sports. It is a small restaurant with about 14 tables, plus some outdoor seating. This place is nothing fancy but don’t let that deter you from visiting because the food is exceptional!
Sammy’s Bistro Park City Menu
No matter what kind of cuisine you are hungry for, Sammy’s Bistro has you covered. Their menu offers a wide range of foods, from Mexican to Italian to American. The menu is easy to read and they present the menu with old school menus. A great change to the new QR Code menus most restaurants offer. All dishes are made from scratch with fresh quality ingredients.
Just in the appetizer section you will find Texas BBQ, Seafood Gumbo, Nachos, and Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps. The culinary team uses high quality ingredients with creativity to serve up one of a kind meals. Sammy’s Bistro has many healthy and dietary friendly options for a reasonable price.
Entree’s continue to impress with the wide array of cuisines. This is not just a sandwich place, Sammy’s Bistro has an entire column filled with their signature dishes. I think the sandwiches are the true beauty of this restaurant. They are delicious, ginormous, and a great price. They even offer brunch! Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays only, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The brunch menu it not quite as extensive as their daily menu, but it does cover all bases for your morning brunch cravings.
Dessert should never be over looked. Sammy’s Bistro dishes out their own homemade desserts. I saw a local order the pecan bread pudding with a dollop of ice cream on top. It looked delicious!
What I Ordered
Meatball Sub
One of the best meatball subs I have ever tasted! You can tell the meatballs are homemade because of how flavorful and juicy they are. The Italian seasoning inside these delicious balls it what makes it so good. Homemade marinara sauce encapsulates the steamy meatballs, adding acidity and freshness. A soft toasted hoagie roll holds these scrumptious balls in place and makes for the best utensil. Italian cheese tops it off by adding saltiness and creaminess. I would not change anything about this magnificent sub!
All sandwiches come with a side of house fried potato chips, that are amazing! If you would like to substitute your side you can with an extra charge of $2.50. Upgrades include fries, sweet potato fries, salad, or coleslaw. I upgraded to the house salad. I was very disappointed with it. The greens were drenched with dressing and it became soggy. I highly recommend asking for the dressing on the side.
Savory Chicken Bowl
We had to try the Savory Chicken Bowl because it was a Triple D Favorite. We looked around the restaurant and everyone was eating it! The slow roasted pulled chicken was piled high and juicy. It is roasted with poblano peppers, onions, and Asian spices increasing the flavor and spice. The broth is one of the best parts to this dish, it is full of flavor and warms you from the inside out. A creamy cilantro sauce is drizzled on top adding a layer freshness. Topping it all off are crispy tortilla chips. For only $14, this is the perfect dish for a cold winter day after skiing Park City Mountain.
“Chivito” Club Sandwich
Chivito is the National Dish of Uruguay. Sammy’s Bistro puts their own spin on this classic sandwich by fusing it with the American Club. Juicy roasted pork is thinly sliced and piled high with crispy bacon. Since you have the bacon you got to have a fried egg! The traditional fresh toppings of lettuce and tomato cuts the richness of the pork, bacon, and egg. It is all piled high onto a toasted hoagie roll with a spread of creamy cilantro sauce. It is absolutely delicious and unique. This would also be a great breakfast sandwich! While it is not one of the cheaper options at $16, it is still reasonably priced with the variety of homemade fresh ingredients.
